The Moon

Walking the dogs out by the paddock, i happen to look up at the night sky. A crescent moon, horns pointing upward, framed by two fir trees. While its not Hawaii, I will admit that this is a beautiful place.

In two days, it will be a month since I boarded HA flight HA26P. I was asked yesterday what i miss about Hawaii. My response?

The cultural diversity
The food. In particular, the Plate Lunch, and the Korean Plate Lunch.
The warmth. Did i really say that? Yes, i did.
The blue skies and the tradewinds.
Aloha Shirts. Yes, the business wear of the islands that i never adopted. How i miss ye!

Things I still need to get used to?

It's Cold. Really.
People are really friendly.
You gotta dress differently. Dear readers, Oregon is not Hawaii. Layers. Socks and SHOES!!!(gasp) in the house!
Come on guys, if it's an asian restaurant, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, what have you- please give it a name that doesn't insult
the culture. *amurai *ams? Yike.
From where i sit, everything is far away.
You know, i noticed there are no Hawaiian street names, go figure.

We're here for the long haul. While the road is bumpy, it's still the road to our future. Buckle up.
